Please note: California recently changed their position and no longer recognizes the ASTM D6868-11 international standard which was used to substantiate these claims regarding how to validate a biodegradable plastics.  It does not however invalidate the research and results as done by independent testing labs to the internationally accepted ASTM standard D6868-11.
